Each issue is filled with photos from the northern half of the State of Maine. These pictures, dating primarily between 1940 and 1970, offer those interested in Maine an opportunity to look back and see photos of their friends, relatives and perhaps, even themselves. Other photos included feature area businesses and locales of significance, with related stories.

Over the years we have published magazines with specific themes. Some of these themes: twins and triplets born prior to 1970, couples married 50 or more years, bands from the 50’s and 60’s, high school sports teams, soap box derby participants, families who reared at least eight children, the outdoors–hunting, fishing & game wardens, and an education topic featuring retired teachers and groups of their pupils.

The first issue published in 1977 covered Northern Penobscot County and at the end of the fifth year in business, "Paper Talks" was being published in nine separate issues annually. At this point, the magazine was effectively covering the northern half of the state (Greater Waterville through the St. John Valley).
